Overcoming defeated attitudes
Rise and Thrive. The week has begun. I want to talk about overcoming a defeatist attitude or mindset. I pride myself on planning out every aspect of my life (I know, Type A, and I am). I also realistically understand that I am not always going to be in control of every situation or circumstance. But I also try to plan for all the potential eventualities (again, I know, sooo Type A). I promise, I am not a “control freak”, but life has dealt some pretty nasty hands to me along the way, and I do my best to fight (plan) my way out. But what do we do when all the planning is for naught? What happens when no matter how much you have researched and prepared, the circumstance you desire to achieve becomes what appears to be unobtainable? Do we succumb to defeat, or do we go back to the drawing board?

Hi there, my name is Angel. I am a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist. My areas of experience and knowledge consist of mental health diagnosis, substance use disorder, family and child trauma, military family support, and caregiver support (mainly children).
I have worked in the community as a peer support as well as online forums. I also provide mentorship and volunteering with a local program in my area that serves those recently released from incarceration.
I have a pride and a passion for people. One of my favorite things to say is Rise and Thrive. We all are capable of being great in some fashion. Although many of us need some guidance along the way. I would love to be able to aid you in your growth so you can rise and thrive too!
