Rise and Thrive. We have made it past hump day; we are on a downward trend for the week. I must admit that I press positivity, but I would be remiss if I didn’t say I struggle with negative thoughts from time to time too. I woke up yesterday with no will or drive. I was not feeling well physically or mentally. I got up and did the expected because it was expected, but I didn’t want to! After some complaining with a peer, I realized I was setting a negative example, in that moment I chose to reframe my thinking. Thinking about all the things I complained about and turned them into things to be grateful I had the opportunity to do today. Just for today, I will do what I need to do, even if I don’t want to because I was allowed to do them in the first place.

Hi there, my name is Angel. I am a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist. My areas of experience and knowledge consist of mental health diagnosis, substance use disorder, family and child trauma, military family support, and caregiver support (mainly children).
I have worked in the community as a peer support as well as online forums. I also provide mentorship and volunteering with a local program in my area that serves those recently released from incarceration.
I have a pride and a passion for people. One of my favorite things to say is Rise and Thrive. We all are capable of being great in some fashion. Although many of us need some guidance along the way. I would love to be able to aid you in your growth so you can rise and thrive too!
