Rise and Thrive, good morning. Time is of the essence, it always is isn’t it? Time for work, time for kids, time for family, time for school, time for fun, time for success, time for recovery etc. The question is, of all these tasks that require our time, which are we devoting the most time to, which are we neglecting, and which do we desire to devote time to? I devote most of my time to work as a necessity for income. The task I regrettably neglect the most is time with family. The task I wish I had more time to devote to, aside from family, is building my recovery while having fun. I have often heard that we will make time for the things that are important to us. Although I believe that statement does hold some truth, I recognize that there are times in life where we are stretching our time thin; spending most of it trying to ensure a financial future for our families. I am cognizant that the lack of time that someone spends with me does not necessarily determine my importance in that person’s life. Next time you take offense to someone’s lack of time for you, ask yourself, or even them what they are going through in life. You may find that to spend time with them you may need to offer of yourself first. Conversely, if you are the one always lacking time for the things that you value, ask yourself and those around you for help to determine how to make your life align with having more time. We all can manage our time better, but when we can’t be gracious. When the ability arises to spend time on all the neglected areas of your life that matter, make the most of it.
