Rise and Thrive. Wonderful Wednesday to you all. This week we are discussing effective communication. Once you have mastered the ability to actively listen to the other party, it would then be beneficial to work on comprehension of what was heard. When speaking you want to be clear and conscience. When listening it is important to ask clarifying questions if you do not understand, never assume. Assuming can lead to a negative communication interaction. I think about what I learned in the medical field, “Ask me questions, and teach back”. Once you have heard the message ask questions and reinform in your own words to ensure proper comprehension and understanding. With true communication comes comprehension.

Angel Fuller
NC Certified Peer Support Specialist
Hi there, my name is Angel. I am a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist. My areas of experience and knowledge consist of mental health diagnosis, substance use disorder, family and child trauma, military family support, and caregiver support (mainly children).
I have worked in the community as a peer support as well as online forums. I also provide mentorship and volunteering with a local program in my area that serves those recently released from incarceration.
I have a pride and a passion for people. One of my favorite things to say is Rise and Thrive. We all are capable of being great in some fashion. Although many of us need some guidance along the way. I would love to be able to aid you in your growth so you can rise and thrive too!
